Who we are

What we collect
- What you give us: the property address, your name, phone number and email, and anything you tell us about the property — on our forms or on a call.
- Collected automatically: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, referring website, and advertising click identifiers (such as gclid or fbclid) where you arrived from an advertisement.
- Calls and texts: phone numbers on this site may be tracked so we know which advertising works. Our number, 587-330-3670, is answered day and night by Olivia, our automated voice assistant, who also answers texts and places the first call after you ask us to get in touch. Calls may be recorded and transcribed so we can review what was said. You will be told at the start of the call, and if you would rather not be recorded, say so and a member of our team will call you instead.
Why we collect it
To respond to your enquiry, prepare an offer on your property, measure which advertising works, and meet our record-keeping obligations under Alberta law.
Who we share it with
Only where necessary: lawyers acting on a transaction, and the service providers who run our website, forms, phone calls, text messages, call recording and transcription, email, analytics and advertising (including Google, Meta, Twilio, ElevenLabs and Resend). We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to lead-generation networks.
Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, mainly in the United States — among them our phone and text provider, the voice system that answers, places and records our calls, and our email and website hosts. Information held outside Canada can be accessed by the courts and authorities of that country under its laws. Your consent, and withdrawing it
By submitting a form about your property you consent to being contacted about your property by phone, text and email, including by automated calls and texts. Under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation you may withdraw consent at any time — reply STOP to any text, reply to any of our emails and ask us to stop, or call us. We will act on it promptly.
The Real Deal by email
If you sign up for our articles by email, we first email you a link to confirm. Until you use it we keep nothing, apart from our email provider’s record of that one message. Once you confirm, we keep your email address, the page you signed up on, and when you asked and when you confirmed, so we can show you agreed. We use them only to send you new articles from The Real Deal, about every two weeks; signing up does not mean we will call or text you. The emails go out through Resend, an email service in the United States.
Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops the emails straight away. We then keep your address marked as unsubscribed, so it is not signed up again by mistake; ask us and we will delete it.
Access, correction, and complaints
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to the records we are required to keep by law. Contact us using the details above. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
Retention and security
We keep enquiry records for as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal obligations, and we use reasonable safeguards to protect them. Call recordings and full call transcripts are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted.
